Work

Groventory: built around the sheet a nursery already keeps.

Groventory with the made-up Demo Nursery: the assistant answering which trucks are late, the board on the shop TV, and the crew's phone.

The business

Our first customer is a family-run tree nursery in Virginia. Like most nurseries, it ran on spreadsheets: inventory, the job list, invoicing and the rest, scattered across a shared drive, used by people who decide in a truck, on a phone, between jobs.

What we did

  • Discovery first

Who does what today, and how the sheets are really used.

  • Designed for the people using it

Decisions at a glance, on the move, with nothing fancy in their way.

  • Built around the sheet

Built Groventory to work with the sheet they already keep, not to replace it: stock by size and location, prices and price groups, a customer site, and requests, quotes, jobs and invoices that work with QuickBooks Online.

What’s next

An AI assistant is in development.

The lesson

Do the discovery, meet people where their comfort with technology is, and design for the truck.
